Entrepreneurial Success Stories – Logan Shinholser Surpasses the $1M Milestone

Why entrepreneurs helping entrepreneurs is so unique, and so successful

I recently sat down and chatted with two new graduates of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Accelerator program. Their stories are totally different, yet their journeys were remarkably the same. This two-part blog post highlights each one – Melanie Berry, Owner and Clinical Director at Carolinas Biofeedback Clinic, and Logan Shinholser, Owner of Contractor Growth Network. Both of these entrepreneurs recently completed EO’s Accelerator program, aimed at equipping entrepreneurs with the tools they need to scale up their business. Graduating from the program requires the business to surpass the milestone of $1Million in revenue. The EO Accelerator program is unique in the region because it was created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs.

Logan’s Story

Logan comes from a family of entrepreneurs. His father, a pond contractor, immersed him in the concept of doing his own thing. Yet Logan didn’t see his journey going that way. Logan was an All-American scholarship athlete at Virginia Tech, received a degree in Chemical Engineering, and was just a few spots away from making the USA Olympic Team in 2012. He had his sights on being a Navy SEAL. But he didn’t make it through the program.

“I felt lost,” said Logan. “So, I found a new game to pour myself into, which fit with my ‘center-of-attention’ personality. That game was work. How hard could I work, how many hours could I push myself? The only work I understood was starting a business. So, after a few years, I found myself having grown something that was actually making an impact.”

Logan owns Contractor Growth Network, a system that simplifies how contractors grow their business, giving them time back to be with their family. “This is the system that would have given me a lot more time with my father when we were growing up,” said Logan. “After 4 years, I found myself with a team of 15 people who were making a real difference in people’s lives.”

Logan had built his business from sheer determination. One of his clients was in EO and told him about the Accelerator program that could help him get to the $1M mark. “We had been building the airplane while we were flying. I knew that scaling the business meant applying different tools and strategies. And I wanted to grow – that was the game!”

Logan joined the EO Accelerator program in November of 2019. “EO Accelerator gave me so many foundational elements for growing my business,” said Logan. “I hadn’t had much direction in deliberate growth plans. It really helped me with the accountability side, mapping out my plans, setting goals, and showing up for my coaches to report my progress and numbers.”

“I wish all businesses could start with EO Accelerator,” continued Logan. “Entrepreneurs typically have no idea what they are doing. EO Accelerator, especially because it is run by other entrepreneurs who have done this before, gives you exactly what you need at the right time. It was 4 hours a week that allowed me to get my business over $1M. The program changes the mindset of the entrepreneur to one of deliberate growth using structured tools.”

Logan’s business is now well over the $1M mark. He has transitioned to EO, whose members own businesses with $1M in revenue or more. “Now I have time to work on Logan. The journey of the entrepreneur can be a lonely one. In EO, everyone gets that. We are invested in each other, both from a business side and a personal side. We give each other real support, we join each other in amazing experiences all over the world, and get the human connection that is hard to find for people like us.”
